Technology in American municipalities

For the vast majority of the government municipalities here in the USA, utilizing modern technology to serve people better is still an afterthought. Besides major cities, even the basics such as online payment or finding relevant information are missing. 
We are building technology much faster than the rate of adaptation. As the demand grows, municipalities will soon have no choice but to adapt. Here are few factors that are driving this: 
One is the increasing availability of affordable and accessible technology. Smartphones, tablets, and laptops are now widely available, and internet access is becoming increasingly affordable. This makes it easier for municipalities to adopt technology and to provide their residents with access to technology-based services.
Another factor is the growing demand for technology-based services from residents. Residents are increasingly expecting municipalities to provide them with access to online services, such as the ability to pay their taxes or renew their driver's license online. Municipalities that are unable to meet this demand risk losing residents and businesses.
Finally, the federal government is taking steps to encourage municipalities to adopt technology. For example, the Smart Cities Initiative provides funding to municipalities to help them implement technology-based solutions to challenges such as traffic congestion and energy efficiency.
Given these factors, it is likely that the majority of municipalities in the USA will adopt technology within the next decade. However, the specific pace of adoption will vary depending on a number of factors, such as the availability of funding, the willingness of local leaders to adopt change, and the level of public support for technology.
